Sport Fishing Report for August 2006

From the Crocodile Bay Lodge, Puerto Jiménez

by Todd Staley, Fishing Director

Inshore Fishing Heats up in August at Crocodile Bay Resort. Summer fishing this August has been smokin' hot with some of the best inshore action we've seen all year. The theme has been "BIG" with large roosters and snappers tipping the scales and keeping anglers smiling and well fed.

Offshore fishing action has been consistent as well with anglers releasing a blue marlin or two daily. Richard Bagnall of Angling Direct Holidays paid us a visit from England and had a great week that yielded several cubera snappers with the largest weighing in at 40lbs (pictured above). He also managed to boat seven roosters averaging 45lbs, some nice sized jacks, and an African pompano. Art Lamstien was down on vacation from our California office and landed his first blue marlin (8-14-06 pictured below) - he's been smiling ever since.

Crocodile Bay's fishing director Todd Staley has been out recovering from surgery which just goes to show you the amount of work running 34 captains, mates and boats can be! Best wishes to Todd who will return in full force this September. For those of you considering a Costa Rica fishing getaway this November, be sure to check out some of the great family and couples and Thanksgiving packages now available on our specials page. See you soon in Costa Rica!
