San José is a loud and busy city. It is the capital of Costa Rica and stand in the intermountain Central Valley and is the centre of the Metropolitan area, which covers 170 km2. Like many other places in the Republic, it can boast sites of historic interest, which tell us the gradual peaceful and democratic road travelled by the people of Costa Rica and which also indicates the national will to climb ever higher. Hence we will find in the capital a rich variety of architectural styles also in the hotels ranging from Colonial Style to ultra modern designs like the Hotel Radisson Europa. In San José you feel little of that effort. Noise and pollution from Street Traffic is a big problem in the Capital.
