These islands are volcanic and sedimentary rising from a sandy bottom about 60 - 120 feet and are host to many species of marine life including the Giant Manta Rays, Stingrays, Sharks, Moray Eels, Barracudas, Sea Turtles, and a variety of schooling tropical fish which you will not find anywhere else.
Sport Fishing and Deep Sea Fishing
The fertile fishing grounds of the Gulf of Papagayo provide year round action for approximately 25 varieties of sport fish. But it is most famous for its sail fishing from April through September. Sails are caught year round averaging 1 to 2 sails raised per day from October through March. These same waters produce great marling catches almost every month of the year.
