Come to La Barca at two Kilometres from Tárcoles
Everybody is welcome here even in a wheelchair. Four boats, designed for sailing under the conditions imposed by the river, assured with insurance policies of civil risk, quipped with lifeboat first-aid kits, radio communication systems, speakers and microphone for the naturalistic guides, are waiting for you.
Tis tourist destination is located at only two hours from San José, five minutes of the National Park Carara, an hour from Puntarenas, twenty minutes from the Hotel Los Sueños Marriott and thirty minutes from Jacó. The Río Grande of Tárcoles is one of the four rivers that end in the Gulf of Nicoya on the Pacific Ocean.
This area is unique to observe American crocodiles (Crocodylae, C. acutus), some of them larger than four meters of longitude, iguanas (Iguanidae, Iguana) and basilisks (Basilisks sp.) in their natural environment next to more than hundred twenty different species of birds. A specialized bilingual guide accompanies the group offering wide educational information on the biology of the crocodiles and diverse aspects of the ecology of this wonderful natural refuge during the two hours of Jungle Safari. During the journey you'll enter the Channel of Guacalillo, an estuary where there are four different species of mangroves (the black, the red, the target, and the botoncillo) which offer refuge to the red limpet (Psittacidae, Plows macao) which presence is very common.
