History
The name of the canton dates back to 1861 when the first chapel was built and dedicated to San Isidro Labrador.
General Description
The area is drained by several tributaries of the river Grande de Tárcoles that belong to the Pacific Versant. Coffee predominates in the area.
Interesting Sites
The canton has within its limits a forest reserve in the northern sector and also the Braulio Carrillo Nacional Park.
Climate
Temperatures range from 16 to 25 Degrees Celcius.
