History
The area had several different names but it was named Flores in 1915 in memory of the benefactor, Dr. J. Flores Umaña. The railroad built from San José to Limon passed through Flores and promoted its development.
General Description
The area is drained by the rivers Segundo and Burío and produces mainly coffee, sugar cane, oranges, beans and corn.
Interesting Sites
Flores is part of the Greater Metropolitan Area. The governmental seat, San Joaquín, is best of Heredia City and crossed by the railroad between San Josí and Alajuela.

Average temperature is between 20 and 21 Degrees Celcius.
