History
This canton was established in 1914 and named after former President Francisco María Oreamuno Badilla.
General Description
Oreamuno is drained by the rivers Toro Amarillo, Blanquito, Blanco, Corinto, and Sucio. The terrain is hilly and fertile. Important crops include potatoes, vegetables and coffee.
Interesting Sites
The district of Cot has a population of indigenous origin. The land of Cot is used mostly for growing corn and on the outskirts of the town, there is a now-vacant santitorium.

Average temperaturas vary throughout the canton from 14 to 19 Degrees Celsius.
