This recreation area is part of the Papagayo Tourist Project and includes a very beautiful beach, a very well conserved mangrove swamp, an estuary and a remnant of dry forest. Both the beach and the estuary are very good for swimming. Howler monkeys (Alouatta palliata) and ctenosaurs (Ctenosaura similis) are very common here. It is possible to reach the beach along a dirt track that starts from the road to Papagayo.
