Guácimo and Pococí Protection Zone

They were created with the aim of protecting the recharge areas of the aquifers that supply the aqueducts in the counties of Guácimo and Pococí. The land in both aquifers is rugged; the soil, which is of volcanic origin, is very rocky and supports a mainly primary, very moist and middle altitude vorest. A few dirt tracks start from both towns allowing visitors to go a little way into both aquifers.
