But some beaches and other places can be dangerous and you should avoid them alone or visit them along with a group or a guide. A foreigner can be recognized almost immediately by his language or hair colour.

One of the mayor problems in Costa Rica is to distinguish between honest people and con-artists because both kinds are equally open and friendly. The country is not as corrupt as others, but certain things will take forever if you don't 'tip'.
