Permanent residencies are still available

Permanent residency in Costa Rica is still available with few restrictions. See our different pages on Immigration or Retirement and Investment in Costa Rica. There you will learn what papers to bring and what kind of differents residencies are available. One category is for retirees (pensionados) who receive a certain minimum amount of monthly income from overseas. Another is for the retirees called "rentistas". They need a monthly pension of a certain amount (coming from Costa Rica or through a bank deposit). A third type of residency is for investors. Finally, there is a residency for those with Costa Rican relatives. If you have time and don't mind standing in line for several hours, and speak and write some Spanish you don't need a lawyer for the paperwork. If you want help, call our office we'll get you in touch with an honest specialist.

We also recommend to book our retirement package! We'll tell you: 1. How and where foreigners live in this peaceful little nation, 2. How they own land or a business without restrictions, 3. How they settled into a new lifestyle. (Take a visit of residential areas, hospitals, supermarkets, and meet other foreigners), 4. About retirement requirements, investment, banking, real estate, legal updates, tax law, and government incentives through an informational seminar, and 5. About a residents' association.

Attend an informational seminar This package will help you discover whether you want to be one of the thousand foreigners that call Costa Rica their "home".
