The yellow margay (tigrillo or cuacel; Felis wiedii) hs more distinctive spots and a tail longer than the hind leg, which helps distinguish it from the ocelot. The margay the size of a large house cat is rare and endangered (as are all the Central American Cats). It lives in forests, particularly near rivers, and has been recorded as high as 3000m.
