Large, colorful bird with huge bill, light above, dark below; black headand chest; dark green back; yellow belly with dark cross-wise band and central black spot; red skin around eye; to 41cm (16 in). ( Tucancillo Collarejo, Pití, Cusingo).
Low and some middle elevation forests, Caribbean and northern Pacific slopes;found in tree canopy in more open habitats such as forest edges, tree plantations, and, in drier forests, along rivers and streams.
