Remember with exception of the very cheap places, to all prices there is automatically 13% sales tax and 10% service added. Some of the better restaurants like Cerrutti and also some popular chains like the "Princesa Marina" can get very busy and it is a good idea to make a reservation. If you want to have a large variety of different kind of Bars, Restaurants and Discos in one place, we recommend to go to the "Pueblo" Some of the Bars also offer good food.
If you should be travelling to the Arenal Area, try Sweetwater Tilapia. I think this is the best fish there is and if you are lucky ask for a Ceviche de Tilapia, well you're in for an unforgettable treat. Near Playa Flamingo we never miss eating directly at a fisherman who's place is called Estero Azul or in Brasilito at the Camarón Dorado or at Amberes directly in Flamingo Beach.
Do not eat large amounts of shark, specially no fins. Sharks accumulate mercury in their skin that is poisonous and makes impotent. A delicious shark ceviche now and then will not hurt you.
