Assembly of Microphone Arms for Radio Stations
In early 2003, with an investment of $250,000, Dominic Spadea, owner of Spadea Manufacturing Co. with headquarters in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, established a local subsidiary ADEPSA near the Juan Santamaría Airport to assemble entirely for export. Spadea found Costa Rica to be a good place in which to set up his assembly plant for three main reasons: 1) tax-free incentives offered by the government to those firms importing materials for processing which are entirely for export and which locate in a Free Zone, 2) a good, easily trainable work force and 3) closeness to an international airport. Although all materials must be imported, the Spadea family enterprise expects to grow rapidly in their 400 square meter plant assembling their microphone arms which satisfy a niche in a very specialized market
