Chapter X
Part Three
Doctors Also Are Applying to Themselves and to Their Patients the Water-Extractives New Method of Fasting
I believe it was Hippocrates (the Father of Medicine) who said: "Doctor, take your own medicine". This meant that, as a rule, doctors do not take their own medicine. And if they do not take it, they are in no position to actually know the effects that their medicines produce in their patients. Nevertheless, there always are a few honest and wise physicians who feel duty-bound to take their own medicine before they prescribe it to their patients. For only in this way are they in a position to know the effects it will have in their patients. This is as true in the allopathic drug system as in the naturopathic natural methods of healing. It is also true in regard to fasting. Those who have not fasted themselves are in no position to supervise fasts in their patients. I know of some doctors who have supervised fasts in hundreds of cases without their ever having fasted.
It is, therefore encouraging to know that many doctors are now using in themselves and their patients the new method of water-extracts fasting. Among them are the following ones :
From Dr. C. A. Fletcher: ----"While staying at your friend's (MI'. Q. J. Workman). I read your magazine Edenia and your new book on "The New Way To Fast" and I decided to go on a 10-day fast right away. I lost 20 pounds but have already gained 10 pounds, and in five days back home I drove 2600 miles and I feel Well. I have heard and read from many fasts, but I believe yours is the best and most perfect. I am 83 years young and I am in perfect health. Another of your students called on me last Monday and bought a bottle of our "Daily Aid, Germicide Antiseptic".
