Puntarenas Costa Rica
The Herradura turnoff is on the Costanera Sur 3.5 km north of the turnoff to Playa Jacó Beach. A paved road leads 3 km west to Playa Herradura - a quiet, sheltered, palm-fringed black-sand beach. Until the mid 1990s this was a rural beach, popular mainly with campers. Now it is home to Marriott Los Sueños a marina, hotel, golf course and a condominium complex that is one of the largest tourism developments in the country. A few hundred meters before the beach on the main road is a campground with showers and basic facilities.

Information for Surfers:
Here you'll find a left point next to the island on the south end of the beach with a beginner's wave. Only accesable by boat, there is an excellent reef break next to the island.
