Puntarenas Costa Rica
In Manuel Antonio there is a good beach called Playa Espadilla. but swimmers are warned to beware of rip currents. There are some lifeguards working on this beach. Reportedly, there is a nude bating beach (not legal but tolerated) frequented by gay men just beyond the far west end of Playa Espadilla. The town is generally safe, but swimmers should never leave belongings unattended on the beach here, or on the national-park beaches.
